Dr. Chuck Berner of Highland Heights, Ohio has been in practice for over 30 years and is committed to providing his patients the highest quality dental care available today. Dr. Berner is constantly demonstrating his commitment to excellence through ongoing, year-round training and education with the best programs and Universities in the country.
Dr. Berner has been inducted as a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry, the highest level of distinction in the Academy, has earned the Life Long Learning and Service Recognition award, reviews manuscripts and papers submitted for publication and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Forensic Identification. The Consumer’s Research Council of America has listed Dr. Berner among ‘America’s Top Dentists’ and Northern Ohio Magazine also included him in their ‘Best Dentists’ issue.
Dr. Berner is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Odontology. After serving on the Board of Directors, he is grateful to have been elected to the Certification and Examination Committee of the ABFO. Dr. Berner is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. After completing his Forensic Fellowship at the Univ. of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Dr. Berner was later designated a Fellow and collaborating scientist with SUNY - Buffalo’s Laboratory for Forensic Odontologic Research. Dr. Berner is respected not only by his dedication to dentistry but also by his humanitarian contribution to his country. He has received recognition as a founding member of the Department of Homeland Security by his membership on the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team under the National Disaster Medical System. Dr. Berner was among the first to be deployed to Louisiana for Hurricane Katrina where he served in the National Disaster Portable Morgue Unit. Dr. Berner was also deployed to Joplin, MO following the tornado disaster, assisted in the Family Assistance Center for the Akron, OH Hawker jet crash and deployed to support the Florida response to the Pulse nightclub tragedy. He is grateful to have received the Reg. V Commanders Award for Meritorious Service. Dr. Berner is proud to participate on the National Dental Image Repository review panel, was awarded the Assistant Director's Award for Excellence for his consultation to the Criminal Justice Information Services Division of the FBI and serves as consultant to Ohio Medical Examiners/Coroners. Dr. Berner is a team member of the Florida Emergency Mortuary Operations Response System, Michigan Mortuary Response Team and is Co-Commander of the Ohio Mortuary Operational Response Team.
He further supports his community by serving on the Board of Directors of Tricommunity CERT and maintaining a close and collaborative role to Mayfield High School through speaking in classes, training students in his office over decades and contributing to scholarships and school activities. Dr. Berner was honored by his induction into the Mayfield HS Alumni Hall of Fame.
In his free time, Dr. Berner enjoys the continuous evolution of technology, upgrading his office facility and teaching/speaking to health professionals, law enforcement, EMS crews and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. He is also very proud of his family practice in which he has the daily opportunity to surround himself with his family. His wife, daughter and grandchildren provide his practice with diligent support. Dr. Berner is excited to be treating his fourth generation of patients and he looks forward to even more rewarding experiences personally and professionally.
